PRACTICE AREA:   Robbery

Robbery is taking something by force. Using a knife or a gun to get someone to hand over the money is robbery.

Robbery is a particularly serious crime. It is punished by up to 20 years in jail.

Don’t give up hope.

Don’t give up hope if you have been accused of robbery. Defending a robbery charge is often a question of identification - did the victim really identify the person who robbed him?

Science has shown that people focus on the weapon, not the face of the robber. Often the events happen quickly. Clothes are often not helpful in identification. Lighting is often an issue. When the police show the victim pictures he must be shown them one at a time, by a policeman who has nothing to do with the investigation of this robbery.

The jury is persuaded by the certainty of the victim. But victims have been wrong, even when they are sure.

You need an attorney who has been trained in eyewitness identification. An attorney who has been doing criminal defense for over 20 years. One who is Certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Criminal Trial Attorney. An expert in criminal law. One with a Masters in Laws in Trial Advocacy. Mitch Ignatoff has that training and experience. Call Mitch Ignatoff at 732-356-2212. 800-400-6908, or by clicking here, for a free initial consultation.

Your liberty is at stake.
